E-Lites Get BTCC Grid Slot
This weekend saw the launch of a great new addition to the E-Lites Family as we began our adventure in the British Touring Car Championship. Our Believe You Can philosophy can be applied to any team or driver on that grid but none more so than our partner team Rob Austin Racing, as they are the only independent team on the grid.
Our main driver for the season is Hunter Abbott – a new recruit for the BTCC this year. He can be identified by the E-Lites logo on his bonnet and despite being new to the Championship, made a solid start at Brands Hatch at the weekend, coming in 18th, 18th and 15th in the three races.
We’ll also be supporting team mate, fan favourite and E-Lites user Rob Austin, who despite a breakdown in the second race of the weekend, managed to secure a bundle of points with a 5th and an 11th place.
In British Touring Cars, the top fifteen finishers all score points. Rob Austin’s finishes leave him 10th in the standings with 16 points, and Abbott’s debut weekend saw his 15th place land him his first Championship point. The cars to watch out for this season are #101 - Austin, and #54 - Abbott, who will be sporting the E-Lites logo on the bonnet.
Hunter Abbott said “Watching the BTCC in the Nineties is what made me want to race in the first place. Racing in the BTCC is the realisation of part of a childhood dream and finally I’ve got an opportunity to do it – and with a team that’s clearly on the up. I’m delighted to welcome E-Lites on board and with their help and their philosophy of strong self-belief, I believe I can reach the podium this season.”
With Tim Hastings set to start his Supersport season on Easter weekend at Brands Hatch, we’ve got some amazing E-Lites racing coming this season, and the only place for updates on our Believe You Can partners is right here on E-Lites.co.uk
