E-Lites Make History At Silverstone
E-Lites and our Formula 4 driver Matt Bell made history at the weekend by becoming the first ever winners of a BRDC Formula 4 race. The 2013 season is the first ever season of the competition, and Matt was top of the podium at the first race of the weekend.
There are eight race weekends this year, with three races at each event, and E-Lites proudly came out of the first weekend with a winning driver. 21 aspiring drivers took to the grid, representing countries as varied as Poland, Mexico and South Africa. Competition on the track was fierce, but from third on the grid, Matt swept into the lead half way through the first race and took maximum points and the top step of the podium. Matt, along with team manager and father Trevor Bell, was understandably delighted after the race.
Speaking to E-Lites after the race, Matt said, "I can't believe it. To be the first winner in F4 feels amazing. Now I've got to try to win the rest of them!"
In race two, Matt started eighth and drove a solid race to end up fourth, and followed it up with a fifth place finish after an absorbing race-long dual for the position. The prominent red and white livery of E-Lites stood out and the battles on-track provided great entertainment for the crowd.
The weekend produced three winners in three races, but we're delighted that the record books will show E-Lites and Matt Bell as the first ever winners in a Formula 4 car. The goal now is to become the first ever Formula 4 Champions.
Highlights of our amazing race win will be on ITV4 at 7pm, Sunday 5th May.
