Homecoming King Timmy Takes First Win
It was a weekend to remember for Team E-Lites and Tim Hastings as the Scottish racer took top step of the podium at his local race track, Knockhill.
Hidden in the Fife hills, the Knockhill circuit has been a poisoned chalice for Tim; he failed to finish here last year. But the team were all smiles as they roared to a race win in the first race of the weekend. Tim was leading the longer second race but after running wide at a crucial corner, conceded the lead to Championship leader Alex Olsen, but was still smiling picking up a second place.
It’s now three podiums in a row for Hastings after his memorable third place at Snetterton. At two circuits where he failed to score a single point last year, it seems his luck has changed and he now runs second in the Championship. It’s a long gap to Olsen, but the bike is fast and after Tim’s successful surgery on his arm, he feels faster than ever before.
Also in action this weekend was Hunter Abbott, representing Team E-Lites in the British Touring Car Championship at Yorkshire’s Croft circuit. Abbott also had a weekend to remember, after getting his best ever results in the Championship, finishing 10th and 11th in two races. After picking up just one point in his previous race meetings, he’s shot up to twelve points for the season, and has pledged to get more Top 10 finishes this season.
There is now a bit of a summer break – the next BTCC race is in Thruxton on Aug 3, and the BSB travel to Brands Hatch on July 19th. Tim’s eyeing up more trophies and Hunter’s eyeing up more points – it’s going to be an exciting second half of the year!
