Celtic win League, MvG goes top
Many congratulations to Celtic who clinched the Scottish Premier League on Wednesday night with a resounding 5-1 victory over Partick Thistle. Everyone at E-Lites is proud to give everyone connected with Celtic a huge pat on the back for their achievement.
It was a great night for Michael van Gerwen last night as he ended Peter Wright’s unbeaten record and moved two points clear at the top of the premier league table. Michael won the game 7 – 5 with some style. Peter Wright used every trick in the book to try and unnerve our man Michael, but MvG’s self-belief is unshakeable!
It was a weekend to remember for Derby County fans as they equalled their biggest-ever victory over their fierce rivals Nottingham Forest. A staggering 5-0 victory sent the home fans into raptures, and striker Craig Bryson became the first Derby player to score a hat-trick in the fixture since 1898. It goes some way to cement Derby’s play-off hopes, but automatic promotion looks increasingly difficult, as Burnley kept their 10-point lead over the Rams.
Rangers are also celebrating a successful season, having already wrapped up the League One title. They claimed their 28th win from 30 games this weekend as they defeated Brechin City 2-1. Goals from Fraser Aird and Nicky Clark either side of a Robert Thompson equaliser put Rangers in an unassailable position 32 points clear at the top. They are now looking forward to the Ramsdens Cup Final against Raith Rovers on April 6.
Nottingham Forest Ladies were on form on Sunday as they beat Blackburn Rovers Ladies 3-1. Two goals from Amber Hughes and one from Kirsty Allen secured the win for Forest and keeps the pressure on league leaders Sheffield.
Worcester Warriors hearts were broken at Sixways on Friday as they fell to an 11-13 defeat to London Wasps. Warriors led the game 11-6 as the game went into the final minute, but an extra time try and a conversion with the last kick of the game secured the points for Wasps.
