Simon Cowell Hopes Electronic Cigarettes Have the X-Factor
After over a decade spent changing the fortunes of everyday people through his shows X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, it looks like Simon Cowell has now taken the opportunity to alter his own lifestyle by switching to electronic cigarettes. According to a piece in the Daily Mirror the talent-show mogul has switched to using an ecig in an attempt to limit his use of traditional cigarettes.
This isn’t the first time that Cowell, a well-known smoker, has attempted to lessen his tobacco habit. A reported 40-a-day man up until very recently the 53-year-old has been taking steps to stop using cigarettes since 2012 when he attempted to give up tobacco using hypnosis. That process reportedly got Cowell down to a more reasonable 15-a-day habit, but he has continued to smoke his preferred menthol cigarettes and hasn’t been shy about it either; infamously telling reporters “I genuinely still love smoking. I equate smoking with having a good time.”
But his fellow judge on Britain’s Got Talent Amanda Holden, speaking to the Mirror, claims that “Simon does not smoke any more. He has got a vaporising cigarette instead. He smokes air, or rather water. It’s amazing.” This switch to electronic cigarettes was later confirmed by a source at the show; “Simon is trying to cut down on the menthols and he’s finding that the electronic cigarettes are really helping.”
The LA based multi-millionaire is not the first celebrity to try making the switch to an electronic cigarette, with many star names already known to favour them over traditional smoking products. Celebrity ecig users already include TOWIE stars Lucy Mecklenburgh and Lydia Bright, as well as Dappy from N-Dubz, but now when it comes to famous faces in the UK known to use the product there will be none with a greater media profile than Simon Cowell . Hopefully Cowell can turn electronic cigarettes to the next big thing too.
